Abstract
Schistosomiasis in Indonesia existing only in two endemic areas, Lindu and Napu valleys (1000 m — 1100 m above sea level) in Central Sulawesi. Study on the transmission dynamics was initiated in 1971. A limited control measure was conducted in 1975 after that in 1982 intensive and more coordinated control measures i.e mass drug administration (MDA) were launched by using Praziquantel. In 1999 schistosomiasis control programme was integrated into Central Sulawesi Integrated Area Development Project (CSIADC-P) funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project implementation was begun in 2000. During this project implementation, schistosomiasis control measures were conducted by implementing MDA with Praziquantel and snail control. The activities were evaluated every 6 months by stool examination, snail survey and rat survey in the endemic villages, 7 villages in Lindu Valley and 16 villages in Napu Valley. In this paper results of surveys done in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 are presented and discussed.
