Abstract
Recent research has taken a broader approach, not only emphasis on exercise and its impact on cardio-respiratory fitness but more pointed to apparent benefits even of accumulated moderate physical activity, an important proportion of which may occur incidentally in the course of daily life. The use of instruments for dirrect meassurment in a large population and national-wide survey is time consuming and expensive. Hence the indirect method using questionnaire is more practical and feasible. Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) adopted by WHO can give a population indicator for sedentary lifestyle. The measurement covers a numbers of different intensities of activity, which are devided into 3 parts : occupational physical activity, non occupational physical activity and transportation physical activity. GPAQ is a new instrument which is important to validate and trial. Training staff and calibration of instrument also needed.
