Abstract

Extended analysis data of fertility and family planning have been done from Indonesia Demography and Health Survey (IDHS) 1997 to know factors connected with pregnancies of adolescence woman, i.e. marriage, husband and wife intercourse, frequency of intercourse, sexual activity at last one month, contraceptive and condom use. The results showed 17.1% of adolescence women age 15-19 years had married status, 0.9% divorced, and 1.8% married more than once. The prevalence of premarital intercourse covered 3.1% adolescence women 15-19 years of age and 5.5% women 20-24 years of age. A total of 89.5% adolescence women were having sexual activity within 8 times during the last 4 weeks, 55.4% of them did not use contraception. A total of 44.3% adolescence married woman were the active members of family planning, especially using injection and pills, condom user were not found on this age group, but they were seen at the aged of 20-24 years of age. There has been a sharp increase in the prevalence of adolescence woman which having pregnancy during 1991-1997, while the fertility rate on the same period were not significantly decreasing. These indicated that there were pregnancies problems that did not end with life birth, contrary ended with abortion or death birth.
